An event organized by the CINI Laboratory on Big Data
Big Data is a phenomenon characterized by the exponential expansion of large volumes of high velocity, complex and variable data. It challenges current techniques and technologies for capturing, storing, distributing, managing , and analyzing data. At the same time, its scale and scope of value have enormous potential in various fields, ranging from health, education, transportation, and environmental monitoring to energy, food security, and Cybersecurity. Independent agencies and Commissions, both in US and in Europe, are urging governments to embrace this data revolution and to develop strategies for helping businesses and public sector bodies to reap the full potential of Big Data. Data is at the centre of the future knowledge economy and society, and the data-driven innovation aims to make use of information from improved data analytics to develop improved services and goods that facilitate everyday life of individuals and of organisations.
This workshop intends to offer a forum where researchers from different communities and the industry can share their insight in this hot new field. The objective is to exchange experience and research ideas on fundamental issues encountered in embracing the potential value of Big Data.
